What ReDucate Looks For

Recently, the Education Technology (EdTech) market has been showing significant growth.
We are working hard every day to deliver unconventional learning experiences to many people through our educational services by applying new technology.

While improving our existing services such as Eipontan, KikoEigo, and Maname, we are also launching new services and projects. We are looking for professionals who share our vision and have the ability to work independently and collaboratively with team members, who can change the game.

ReDucate’s members, regardless of professions and employment status, are required to present ideas, handle responsibilities and have the willingness and skills to create new services. Each employee is given decision-making autonomy and a wide range of responsibilities, which make everyone’s job challenging and satisfying. The members are expected to have what it takes to work effectively with diverse teams and be creative, innovative and highly motivated to realize new ideas. However, this does not mean we have late night grinds in the office. We have a pleasant working environment where each member enjoys working in his or her own style, learn from each other and grow together as independent professionals. All members have their own area of expertise and always help each other through extensive discussions.

Last but not least, as we are developing English learning apps, you will have a privilege to brush up on your English skills while working. One of our members has improved his TOEIC score by more than 100 points in three months just by using our apps!
We are looking forward to working with well-motivated professionals who can enjoy the responsibilities and challenges unique to a venture company.

Our People

I joined ReDucate as I wanted to make language education materials leveraging my teaching experience. Also, education technology has huge possibilities to grow further and I was attracted to the expression, “new learning experience.” I liked the open culture ReDucate has as well.

What are your roles?

My main role is to make effective educational contents for our services and practice quality control. In particular, I select key vocabulary, check the subtitle data of video clips, make various vocab questions for our apps and manage the progress of all tasks involved.
When making educational contents, I always try to have the users’ viewpoint.

Our goal is to create contents that help our users learn effectively and efficiently. To achieve this goal, I use what I learned through my experience of learning English and other foreign languages and the know-how that I acquired through my teaching experience. Also, when we choose video materials, we try to choose topics that are interesting and suited for learners so that users can enjoy learning. We constantly look for interesting topics and try to include popular videos covering seasonal events and latest news. By using our services, we want users to learn not only English but also something new through using English.
We usually work closely with engineers and we communicate thoroughly with each other. As minor errors can lead to major technical issues, attention to details is really important for our position. We do our best to ensure the quality of contents and services.

What is your favorite thing about ReDucate?

I’m always happy to hear positive feedback from users such as “learning English has become more fun since I started using ReDucate apps” and “using ReDucate apps is helping me improve English skills.” We do not have chance to talk directly with our users on a daily basis, but I love to meet users at exhibitions and hear what they have to say about our services. I’m an avid writer, so I very much enjoy writing texts for our educational contents.

Making educational contents at ReDucate is exciting because every day I learn something new such as modern expressions and the differences in accents from region to region.
After I joined ReDucate, I started bouldering (sports climbing) with some colleagues after work.
I’m totally into it as I can get exercises in short hours after work.

I decided to join ReDucate because I was fascinated by its vision to transform learning into a fun and exciting experience. When I gave thought to the education of my 3-year-old kid, I asked myself what I can do to help create an environment where everybody can enjoy learning. I thought I could work on interesting projects at ReDucate, and I chose to work here.

What are your roles?

I have a wide range of responsibilities including setting operation policies of our services, planning raids for the apps, managing tasks of project members, analyzing sales figures, and providing customer support. I always operate our services, taking into account how to give users fun learning experiences and help their learning while boosting our sales at the same time.

Any decision I make will influence the sales and users’ behavior directly, which is interesting and entails responsibility as well. My daily tasks include many small tasks, so I’m always paying attention to details, no matter how seemingly insignificant they are to others.

What is your favorite thing about ReDucate?

I like the open-minded culture that ReDucate has. We have many great opportunities to lead projects if we express ideas and work actively. I was engaged in the development of game apps in my previous job and developing educational apps is totally new to me. Now I target completely new users and I see a whole new world ahead of me, which is truly inspiring and fulfilling.

I strongly felt that ReDucate’s vision to leverage the potential of games for education can spread the fascination of games to many people.
When I met some people working at ReDucate, they valued what I’ve been thinking about since I started looking for a job as a new gradate: “I want to work to spread the value and fascination of games across the world.” So, I decided to join ReDucate.

What are your roles?

I am responsible for planning and setting raids for our apps. I work collaboratively with members in the programming/graphic sections, and manage all processes from planning, development and implementation. I also create statistical data and write texts to notify customers of our events and plans. What I always keep in mind is that our users are not necessarily frequent game players (like me!). Therefore, we need to provide services in a way that allows for all users to enjoy learning without stress, regardless of their experience at playing games.

What is your favorite thing about ReDucate?

At ReDucate, I have more autonomy in my job compared to my previous job. Decisions are made quickly and it is rare that it takes time to get approval for our plans or, in the worst case, get rejected after an unreasonably long time. What I like about our work environment is that we don’t have to work at our desks;

I decided to join ReDucate as I was attracted to its flat organization and free culture. Also, I liked the size of the company which allows you to express ideas and contribute to the decisions to be made;you generally will not be able to be so influential in big companies. When I talked with some people working at ReDucate, I liked their passion towards creating products and design as well as their attitude to value users’ perspectives and preferences.

What are your roles?

I take part in every process of the works related to designs for our services. I am responsible for the artistic quality and progress management, including planning raids for our apps and setting the concepts and specifics of graphics. I ask in-house designers and subcontractors to create graphics based on what we planned, and check the quality of their work several times.

Small graphical changes can lead to big differences in customer response, so I try to incorporate ideas from designers and directors to deliver the best quality of work to our users.
I work closely with directors and ask for the customers’ responses and figures to improve our future works. Because there’s always room to think of new ideas for improvement, the work never ceases to be exciting.

What is your favorite thing about ReDucate?

I appreciate the environment where we are given as many opportunities for work and growth as we want. I tend to get bored if I keep doing the same tasks, so having various responsibilities and getting involved in many projects are truly fulfilling. We’re expected to be self-starters and think and work independently, which of course entails responsibilities, but I truly enjoy working like this at ReDucate.

Front Engineer

I have always wanted to create English learning games like what I used to play when I was in junior high school. So, when I found out ReDucate was looking for new members to develop a new product, I jumped to that opportunity.

I have always wanted to create English learning games like what I used to play when I was in junior high school. So, when I found out ReDucate was looking for new members to develop a new product, I jumped to that opportunity.

What are your roles?

I’m mainly in charge of the coding of front-end development. I add motion using JavaScript and CSS, based on the idea of our design team. I’m also in charge of developing SPA using MVC framework of JS. My role includes data design, API design and coding of back-end as well.

Our team is comprised of professional engineers and each one of us has an area of expertise. We trust each other and work together. We’ve been approaching the Agile style development process when creating our application but, in some cases, we adopt the water fall model: for example, in the integration of payment system.

In recent years, we’ve seen major changes in JavaScript. To catch up with the latest trends, we always explore new FrameWork, new modules and architecture for better design of our system. We often discuss technical topics of interest in our group chat.

What is your favorite thing about ReDucate?

I used to use PHP for backend development for about 10 years, so having started to join the Ruby world makes me really excited. I’m actually quite new as ruby engineer but developing in Ruby environment is fun as it has many interesting features, such as searching for unique gems. We partly adopt Kotlin and I think ReDucate is rather aggressive in pursuit of technology. As we are a small team, we split our development tasks by functions, enabling us to be in charge of design, back-end and front-end comprehensively, which I think is quite fascinating.
